What a beautiful video Ty...

Tybello's latest video ekeundayo showcases her outstanding talent as music video director.I'm one of the many fans of tybello's work even tho' i've had close cut encounters with Ty,i've always longed for a chance to be involved with an orphange project for a long time and tybello's duet with talented singer olufunmi on ekundayo just brought to fore the desires all over again.i dare say it was one of the outstanding musical albums of the year 2007 that emerged out of nigeria that showcased depth, creativity, talent and patience.
According to the story the woman, Madam janet ekundayo who is now 94 has run an orphanage in Isanlu Makutu in Kogi State since 1969.Thats amounts to about 40 years of raising and nurturing orphans and abandoned kids alongside her husband, and its the kind of story that does not often get national attention in a country like nigeria and even media attention. Especially because of the issue of role models and the people that deserve emulation have often not gotten the required attention .
The type of national insipration we often experience usually involves the glorification of our leaders, and the display of things that naturally draw attention and respect like flashy cars and the expression of stolen funds through lavish parties is what often hits the headlines, not the mama ekundayo type of story.she's just probably viewed as unambitious with no goals or dreams in life. And thats why a lot of the time most Nigerian and African leaders naturally create for themselves a larger than life image of themslves while in office and out of office to make their presence felt rather than ensure that their actions speak for them.Politics is not my scope here though, but polity and for me the tremendous desire and dream that this woman has pursued has put her on a scale almost equal to mother Theresa in terms of her efforts with the kids and they will never forget her but why should we.The issue we face the most, involves the adoption issue and the stigmatisation that goes with it.
I think a lot of people have the general stigmatisation towards the adoption of orphans and you get the feel that they think its probably a curse to actually adopt a child or speak about adopting one,you get questions that range from whether you can't have kids and things like they could cause a division in the family and they could be possessed.
I remember my joke about it even in my own house it was not such a good idea to them even when my target was put at when i clock 50.But who can blame them the issue is a mind set matter and can only be helped with other approaches like the one they do at www.linkachild.org
You can mail them for more information via www.linkachild.org or send an email to info@linkachild.org. or call 08033854523,017909379 i think the simplest method is to support the orphanges in the little way we can, spread the word, share a copy of the video on youtube.com, or search for it under madamekundayo appreciation society on facebook.com, and its under tybello's video,if you love ty's work and you've been wanting to support orrphanages this is our chance, who knows the life we maybe saving could be ours..
